By connecting this cable internally between your PCI FireWire adapter and the computer power supply, you increase the capability to power the FireWire connection.
By default, the FireWire connection can provide max 3 Watt (250mA @ 12VDC), sourced by the PCI bus. With this cable, the FireWire connection can provide min 9 Watt (750mA @ 12VDC), sourced directly by the computer power supply. Use of this cable is highly recommended when using multiple or high consumption industrial cameras.
